There are a few different reasons that employee may not be able to clock in/out from the time clock dashboard.
1. Restrict Remote Clocking Settings
If you have set up time clock restrictions by IP please ensure that your store IP is added to the approved list. If it is not you will see an error message.
To correct this you can either temporarily disable the restriction or double check the external IP address of your store network. To find out your external IP navigate to the Time Clock Settings. It will be displayed under the Restrict Remote Clocking Settings field. You can also navigate to whatismyip.org and it will be displayed at the top of the screen.
2. Limit Early Clock In
If you have set early clock in restrictions your employee will be unable to clock in until the specified time.
If they were required to come in early due to shift changes you will either have to temporarily disable the early clock in restriction or modify and publish their new shift times.
3. Employee not on the schedule for the day.
If an employee is not on the published schedule for the day they will not be listed within the time clock portal. If they are filling in for another employee their shift will need to be created and published before they will be listed. Please be sure to refresh the time clock portal once the scheduling changes have been made.
It is possible to override this feature from the Time Clock Settings.
Make sure you have selected All for the setting Employees appearing on the time clock portal and any employee can clock in/out at any time. this can help when you have flex employees who are not always on the schedule.
If you use this setting it is highly recommended that you remove the ability of employees to clock in/out from their personal dashboard.
